The Perinatal Community Health Leader training is a full spectrum training covering the following specialties:
Birth Doula
Postpartum Doula
Our AAVE Teen4Teen Peer training is designed to educate and certify passionate youth in 2 leading perinatal focused careers. Upon successful completion of this training, AAVE TP's will be well versed in birth and postpartum care for their peers, teen health-promotion, the birthing process, and mental health regardless of the peers they serve.

The teen4teen doula training is available to teenagers aged 13 - 19 currently enrolled in high school. By enrolling in this training, teens not only get a jump start on non-medical and low-level medical career options but the education to support their peers, if needed.
What you will learn?
How long is the training?
The TPD training varies from 1 month or up to 3 months.​​​​
The TPD trainees can expect to learn about:

provide teen peer support during pregnancy, labor and postpartum stages

advocate for equality and equity within teen pregnancy

promote physical and mental teen health screenings

support body positivity and gender/sexual choices

preconception health,

pregnancy prevention and contraception

How long is mentorship?
The TPD mentorship varies per enrollment, age and grade. Graduating seniors can access mentorship for up to 6 months and summer trainees for up to 1 month.​
When does the training open?
The TPD training is only available once a year and is currently closed for 2025!​
Who is eligible to apply?
All youth passionate about maternal and child health are eligible to apply. This training is also part of summer youth employment.
